Testing for Allergic Reactions to Oils

If you know which scent(s) you like, but aren’t quite sure how the oils will react to your skin, it may be best to have a skin test done by your doctor to make sure that you’re not allergic to any plant or flower extracts used in aromatherapy oils. Some people don’t think to do this before purchasing aromatherapy oils, since all the ingredients are natural. And while most people usually don’t react negatively to aromatherapy oils, you definitely want to make sure that you’ll be able to enjoy your aromatherapy oils once you purchase them. You could perform a skin test on your own, but going to a doctor for the test will allow you to be tested for more than one flower or plant extract at a time, so you won’t purchase oils, only to find out that you have an allergic reaction to them. If you suffer from common ailments such as seasonal allergies or frequent headaches, there are several aromatherapy oils that can help with these conditions, so you should ask your doctor which oils are all right to use in conjunction with your medication (if you are taking any).
