providing information about massage oils
A headache may range from a minor nuisance to a major, incapacitating
condition such as a neurovascular migraine. Very few headaches are
caused by serious medical conditions. Headache pain is commonly
classified as tension, cluster, and migraine. The rebound headache,
which appears to be the result of taking pain relievers, either
non-prescription or prescription, daily or very frequently, is
disturbingly common.
The good news is that the number of natural alternatives to treating
headache pain is growing. Many people, for example, are turning to
aromatherapy for the effective relief of headache pain. Several
essential oils have proven to have the capacity to prevent or reduce the
throbbing pain of a headache caused by emotional stress and tension. The
powerful effects of these essential oils seep deep into the nervous
system to reduce the pain emanating from different lobes of the brain.
Headaches are known to be caused by many different internal and external
factors; strain and stress inflicted on the nervous system is known to
be one of the major causes.
The following aromatherapy recipes cannot only be used to help relieve
headache pain, but to prevent it from occurring in the first place. If
the pain persists after trying these remedies, be sure you consult with
your physician for further treatment.
What tends to trigger your headaches? After thinking about it, choose
the appropriate recipe. Prepare the mixture by pouring the essential
oils into a 10 ml bottle and adding vegetable oil to fill it up. Make
sure that you mix this concoction well.
Aromatherapy blend #1 is for headaches due to negative emotions. Use 3
drops of Roman chamomile and 8 drops of lavender.
Aromatherapy blend #2 is for headaches due to muscle tension. Use 4
drops of lavender and 5 drops of peppermint. Massage your forehead,
temples, neck, and shoulders.
Aromatherapy blend #3 is for headaches due to nervous tension. Use 3
drops of Roman chamomile, 3 drops of neroli, and 5 drops of marjoram.
Massage your forehead, temples, and solar plexus very gently. Breathe
the fragrance in slowly and deeply. Pour 15 drops of this aromatic blend
into warm bathtub water and soak for at least 15 minutes.
Lavender and sweet marjoram will help relieve the intensity of the pain.
Roman chamomile is soothing and relaxing. For headaches due to sinus
congestion, add eucalyptus and/or peppermint for their decongestant
properties. Sweet marjoram is especially useful for headaches associated
with menstruation, while true melissa and rosemary help relieve
migraines.
Inhalation of essential oil fragrances can bring relief to headache and
migraine pain if used as soon as symptoms begin. Put 2 drops each of
lavender, sweet marjoram, and peppermint on a tissue; for a migraine,
add 1 drop of true melissa. Inhale the fragrance deeply three times.
Symptoms should be alleviated within minutes.
To relieve a tension headache, rub 2 drops of lavender gently on your
temples, behind your ears, and across the back of your neck. Repeat this
two times if necessary.
For a massage, mix 3 drops each of lavender and eucalyptus in a half
fluid ounce of carrier oil and apply it to your forehead and behind your
ears, pausing to apply gentle pressure on the outer corners of the eye
bone around the hollows.
To help relieve a tension headache, add 3 drops each of sweet marjoram,
Roman chamomile, and lavender to your bath water.
Aromatherapy oils offer a refreshing and pleasant way to treat headache
and migraine pain. The great advantage of using these oils is their
convenience. They truly have magical healing properties.
