Tea tree oil is especially good for
arthritis, as it can penetrate the skin and desensitize irritated nerve
endings. The term “arthritis” refers to inflammation of the joints and includes a group of more than 100 different rheumatic diseases. Arthritis is often caused by the deterioration of cartilage in the joints. Pain, stiffness, and swelling of the joints are symptoms of rheumatic diseases. Arthritis can also affect the rest of the musculoskeletal system, which includes the bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Tea tree oil is especially good for arthritis, as it can penetrate the skin and desensitize irritated nerve endings. Combine 18 drops of tea tree oil in 1/8 cup of almond oil and pour it into a dark bottle. Shake the bottle well before applying the mixture. For relief from pain caused by arthritic afflictions such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, apply this mixture topically two to four times a day. Massage it into the skin over the painful area. You can also put 2 or 3 drops of tea tree oil into a warm bath to alleviate the joint pain of arthritis. If you want to do more than just relieve arthritis symptoms, you must make dietary changes. First, change the type of oil in your diet to one rich in omega-3 fatty acids. These suppress the inflammatory process. Omega-3 fatty acids, found mainly in fish such as sardines, salmon, and cod, switch off the enzymes that break down joint cartilage. Omega-6 fatty acids, found mostly in plant seed oils such as evening primrose and sunflower, also have a positive effect. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids include canola oil (and the margarine), salmon oil, cod liver oil, soybeans and soybean oil, walnuts and walnut oil, and fresh avocados and avocado oil. You want to replace red meat with oily fish. To get plenty of iron, eat lots of dark green leafy vegetables and other foods rich in iron. You’ll want to avoid alcohol, coffee, tea, saturated fats, fried and breaded foods, and processed foods. While arthritis cannot be cured with diet or massage, you can expect these dietary changes, in conjunction with tea tree oil massages, to alleviate painful flareups.
