Natural Healing
Therapeutic massage oils add oxygen and nutrients to the
body’s cells. Therefore, massage oils are often used with a variety of
natural healing practices. Some of these natural healing practices
include massage therapy, reflexology, acupuncture and acupressure.
In massage therapy, pressure is applied to the body’s soft tissues. Soft
tissues include connective tissues, muscles, tendons, ligaments and
joints. The massage oil is used to reduce friction between the massage
therapist and the client in order to provide a smooth touch.
With reflexology, specific points on the feet, hands and ears – called
reflex zones – are stimulated to improve the health of other parts of
the body. Massage oils, soft lighting, and soft music are used together
to create a relaxed, calming effect.
Acupuncture originated in China more than 2,000 years ago, making it one
of the oldest medical procedures known to man. Both acupuncture and
acupressure stimulate specific points of the body in order to bring
balance to the mind, body and spirit. Through this form of healing, the
body’s natural healing abilities are stimulated. Massage oils are used
to aid in the relaxation required in acupressure and acupuncture.
