Choosing the Right Massage Oil for
Your Man A massage
isn’t a massage without…
Oil. With the popularity of massages – whether in the
comfort of one’s home or in a spa, it is puzzling how oil has become the
preferred medium. Why not water? Or coffee? Doesn’t the smell of coffee
jerk our nostrils and elevate our alertness a notch or two higher? Or
why not flour?
Is it because oil has different smells – familiar and exotic - that
please every olfactory make-up there is? Is it because it facilitates
the masseur’s work, so his hands and fingers glide more easily across
the body? Is it because oil has a therapeutic quality to it? Is it
because it leaves the skin soft and aglow after an energetic rub?
Yes! Oils carry all those wonderful properties and more. Men who enjoy a
regular massage will not have it any other way. It has been suggested by
massage experts and spa personnel that almond oil or cured sesame oil
might be good oils to initiate a man to. They seem to have that
rejuvenating effect, according to some, or else they tend to spread the
body’s temperature out more evenly. Perhaps it has something to do with
almond and sesame being familiar kitchen scents when they were growing
up.
Other suggestions are lemon or sweet orange oil – these are subtly
scented oils that trigger something pleasant in men while in a relaxed
mood. Even if men are known to carry on enduring love affairs with their
cars, it would be unthinkable to use massage oils that smell of diesel
or burnt rubber. That won’t do the trick!
